Old school

We drove to California a couple of weeks ago, and wasn't able to take Ava's swing with us. Angi to the resuce! She happened to have a swing from when her oldest Sierra, was a baby (she's now 15!) No batteries required, it's the old fashioned wind up! And Ava loved it. It gave us 40 minutes of swinging each time, and worked perfectly for her naps. Thanks Angi! :)

4 months!

Actually, I'm a little behind on the 4 month update, but better late than never! Anyway, I can't believe how fast Ava is growing. Everyday, it seems like she is doing something new. She has been rolling over both ways like crazy, "talking" up a storm, smiling, laughing, playing with toys, grabbing everything in site (especially mommys hair!) and just making us smile every time we look at her! In fact, right now she is playing in her crib with her toys and doing this really funny growl that she just started, she sounds like a little baby lion, it's so cute! And now for the pictures of this last month.....

It's so hard to capture pictures of her on her tummy anymore, becuase she rolls over so fast. You can tell here that she's already on her way over!

Mommy got sick, so Grandma Young came and bundled me all up and took me out to lunch with Aunt Lyla so Mommy could get some well needed rest!

Little ballerina

Ava has recently found her feet, and has been totally obsessed with them! She has also started fitting into some of her shoes that we have for her, and I put on her little ballerina slippers and it really looked like she was doing some ballet moves, it was so cute!

So flexible! I remember when I could touch my feet, not so much anymore! ;)

3 months

Well another month has gone by since baby Ava has arrived! This last month has been very eventful, filled with lots of trips to Colorado, Idaho, the lake and even a trip to the ER :( Ava got sick last week with a stomach virus and because she had a fever and she was so young, we had to take her in to get her checked out. She is all better now thank goodness, or else Mommy would have probably ended up in the hospital worrying herself to death! Anyway, Ava is getting so big every day and has been accomplishing a lot of new things, like rolling over (both ways), holding her head up, laughing out loud (which we love!), and she's becoming so much more aware of everything around her and has been reaching out for objects. She is so much fun, we can't get enough of her! Here are some pictures taken of this last month.

This was at one of Ian's downhill mountain bike races in Idaho. We took Sophia, and what a great little helper she was! Oh, and Daddy took 2nd place!

She loves taking a bath! We finally took the little newborn hammock out of the tub, so she could be more submerged in the water, and she loved it! Kicking and splashing the whole time!

Activities aplenty!

Well with all the gizmos and gadgets we have for Ava, it's safe to say that she's pretty much never bored around here! And I do have to admit that I'm a sucker for whatever new, fun-looking baby item I come across! =o Soon I think we may have to buy a bigger house just to fit it all in! ;)

The bumbo! This will be nice when she gets a little older, we can use it as a portable high chair.

The exersaucer. She's still a little too small for it, but I just had to get it up and running for when she will be big enough.

The bouncy chair. This has come in real handy for when we are out and about, like here at the lake!

Her mobile has become one of her favorite things to watch. She will lay in here and just stare up at it in amazement, it's so cute!

I'm happy to report that she's not sleeping in her swing at night anymore! :) I found this rock and play sleeper and this is where she has been sleeping now, and she loves it! She has been sleeping for over 8 hours a night this whole week in here!

She still loves her swing, but mostly just for daytime naps.

2 months!

Wow, I can't believe our baby girl is already 2 months old! Time flies when you're having fun. Ava weighs a little over 11 pounds now and is already wearing 3 month clothes! She's really long, so I think that's why they are already fitting her. She hasn't had her 2 month check up yet and to be honest, I'm not looking forward to it because she will be getting her first shots. :( But at least she will be vaccinated and that's what I have to keep telling myself! She is starting to smile more and more and cooing lots, which we love! She also started holding her head up while on her tummy, and to our dismay, she is still sleeping in the swing...

Tummy time. I swear she is about to roll over on her own soon! Whenever I put her on her tummy on this mat, she tries really hard to roll over, and she's almost done it several times!

Fourth of July fun!

Ava's first Fourth of July consisted of lots of family and a birthday party for her cousin Sophia! And all of her Grandparents to celebrate with. My parents were here as well as Ians, they came in from Colorado for the week to see us and of course their favorite (okay, their only) grandchild! We had a picnic at the park, but didn't stay for fireworks, maybe next year when Ava gets a little older!

Of course Mommy had to dress Ava up in a festive outfit, any excuse for another photo shoot!
